Socrative
Description:

Socrative is a cloud-based student response system developed in 2010 by Boston-based graduate school students. It allows teachers to create simple quizzes that students can take quickly on laptops – or, more often, via classroom tablet computers or their own smartphones. That makes these devices a more robust replacement for special purpose “clickers.” “I can assess on the fly and best of all, students can use their portable media to provide me with near instant feedback,” writes one teacher blogger. “Clickers do this but the benefit of Socrative is that students do not have to buy anything and I do not have to spend a lot of time developing quizzes using any certain format.

Uses
  •  Quizzes
  •  Allow open-ended short responses.
  • Activities can either be teacher-paced (for use during a classroom discussion) or student-paced (for use as a more traditional class-end “exit ticket” or quiz).
  • There’s also a gaming element: the “Space Race” feature can set up a quiz so that teams of students can compete against one another to launch rockets into space.
  •  Results can be displayed live in the classroom to facilitate discussion (with student identity kept anonymous) – a “nifty way of using formative assessment to further students’ learning” – while teachers can access detailed classroom and student data on their own devices.
  • Socrative quizzes can also be shared with other teachers; as of mid-2013.
  •  Socrative had built up a library of 315,000+ quizzes that any teacher could use.

Prezi
Description
Prezi is a web-based tool for creating presentations (called prezis for short). It's similar to other presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint, but it offers some unique features that make it a good alternative. In recent years, it has become popular in schools and businesses. If you're looking to create a presentation that's a bit more eye-catching and engaging, Prezi may be for you.
Price:
Free as trial.
Uses:
·         You might be wondering what makes Prezi different from other presentation software, like PowerPoint or Keynote. For one thing, Prezi is completely free to use. There are upgrades you can pay for to unlock additional features, but everything you need to create and share a dynamic prezi is available free of cost.
·         Another great reason to use Prezi is that it is run entirely through your web browser, meaning there will be fewer compatibility issues than with other programs like PowerPoint. Your prezi will always look the same, no matter what computer you're viewing it on.
·         Because of its unique presentation style, Prezi can use movement and metaphor to help communicate a point you're trying to make. If you want your audience to really feel a sense of space and distance between locations, you could use a map template, like in the prezi below

Concept board
Description
A form of stimulus material, comprising visual and/or verbal representation of an idea for a product or service, often outlining its attributes and benefits and used to present this idea to participants in research. These are usually mounted on large boards so a group of people can easily see them. Such concept boards may be quite polished and resemble advertisements, or they may be very rough and 'unfinished'.
Price:
Free as trial.
Uses:
·         It is made of only images carefully selected to represent the mood and the feel that we would like to have as a final result of the room.
·         Substantially is a visual collage that can be made as a tactile, physical board searching images on magazines, cutting and sticking them on an A3 cardboard or can be created as a digital page, selecting images from the thousands and thousands of websites, grabbing and sticking them in the digital board in a second.
·         We normally prefer to create our concept boards as a digital page because it gives us more freedom in terms of creativity and then prints them on our specifically designed boards so to be more effective at the client presentations.
·         The concept is very useful at the early stage of a project as a guide tool for the designer and for the client. The client will understand the colour scheme, the materials and the overall feeling and before proceeding further with the Sample Board, the designer will have the client approval.
·         When it is made in the right way, so as an organized display of the designer thoughts and ideas, it is a very useful tool to use to effectively communicate the design ideas to the client.
·         The pros for the designer also is not to lose track where, further in the project, will be overwhelmed by fabrics, furniture, wallpaper, etc. In this way, the designer will always have a guide to go back to the initial tracks and check the original goals
